summer: inspiration by the seasons
Summer is here, bringing sunshine and warmth. It’s a great time for outdoor bonfires and berry picking, barbeques, and backyard hangouts with friends. It’s a time for travel and international adventures, past summer nostalgia and beach days with sand between your toes.
One morning, I found myself in the kitchen starting to bake a simple strawberry galette before the workday began. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did (it was almost gone by afternoon). See recipe in post.
After a restless night, I woke up early one morning and decided to make pavlova. Under the soft morning light, I took comfort in the productive quiet and settled into a profound sense of peace from the mundane task of beating heavy cream into whipped cream.
On a lazy weekend afternoon, my husband and I decided to venture out for a stroll in the botanical gardens. After waiting several weeks for news on my camera lens repair, I was stoked to find that Zeiss had sent me a brand new lens instead. So to celebrate, we took photos of the beautiful flowers and posed for each other.
A few weeks ago, we headed to Big Sur for what felt like the most luxurious camping we’ve ever done. We started the evening by setting up a picnic meal at our table and making grilled cheese. We breakfasted at Big Sur Bakery, followed by leisurely lounging at the beach and good company around a campfire when it got dark.
From Bali, we took a twenty minute flight to Lombok where we stayed in a bungalow along a private beach. From our bed facing the ocean, we watched the glow of sunrise and sunset every day.
We spent golden hour cruising across the San Francisco bay. Somehow, in a week covered in clouds, we found ourselves embarking on a boat with a clear view of the city. And what a beautiful view it was.
There is something to be said about walking along a reflection. During our trip to Portland, we made several quick stops to enjoy a bit of nature while we were there.
Here is the second part of our trip to Provence last July. We lucked out on timing and happened to be in Provence around the peak lavender season.
Last July, I had a last minute business trip to Paris. After meetings in Paris, we headed to visit our office in Cambridge, then spent a weekend foodie tour of London, and finally a week in Provence.
