Sunset Sailing in NYC

We ended our stay in NYC with an amazing sailing trip with Narwhal Yacht Charters beginning at golden hour. When my husband first asked me if I was interested in a boat ride to celebrate our anniversary, I thought he meant a ferry boat with lots of other people. It was only until we arrived at the docks and the dock master only let us through that I found out it was private - as in a private yacht, as in all to ourselves. And what a beautiful sailboat it was. We were happy my husband’s cousins Andrew and Eileen could join us!

We enjoyed a leisurely, four hour sailing trip with stunning views of New York, New Jersey, closeups with both the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge as well as the Statue of Liberty.  I’ve never been so close before.

It was a perfect autumn evening, with the clear expanse of sky above us and calm waters beneath us. We watched the world around us turn from gold to pastel. The number of boats lessened over time and we were left quite alone to take in the incredible views.

Eileen brought some tasty sake while the captain provided other drinks, snacks, and blankets.

I am so happy to be married to this man and am thankful every single day. I cannot remember ever being happier in my entire life and some days need to remind myself he’s real - that there’s no such thing as too good to be true because it’s true.

When the sun had finally set, we bundled up in blankets, sitting out on the deck as the views city came to life in bright lights, like glittering stars in the sky.

Until next time, New York!
