fall: inspiration
by the seasons
It’s time for cozy sweaters, apple cider, pies, and fall festivities. It’s the season to go leaf peeping and watch the leaves change into shades of red and gold.
The late summer in San Francisco has ended and temperatures have started dropping. We bundled up and headed to the farmer’s market over the weekend. We enjoyed the brisk autumn air and the simple joys of carrying out mundane everyday tasks in each other’s company.
The warmer weather is slowly fading. We wake to crisper mornings and come home to cooler nights. We bundle in our cozy sweaters, but are ultimately warmed by the gathering of friends. Some days ago, we celebrated the autumn season with our friends, Aneesha & Alex by baking pumpkin custard tarts.
For our second wedding anniversary, my husband booked us a cozy a-frame treehouse near Shasta Lake. We took off work early on Friday and drove up 4-5 hours from San Francisco to enjoy the arrival of fall in the quiet beauty of the outdoors.
We spent part three of our trip exploring Vermont, indulging in good food, and embracing the coziness of autumn. We drove from Stowe to Woodstock, taking in the orange hues that peppered the countryside.
We headed for the three notches of the White Mountains for a few days, taking in the beautiful fall colors and hiking our way to stunning views with good friends. Here are a few places that will take your breath away.
We headed for Maine to start our second week in New England, relaxing in the company of good friends who haven’t seen each other all in one place in a while. Bonfires, s’mores, hiking, sea kayaking, and fairy houses.
We spent a quiet afternoon indoors, baking apple pie over a cup of tea. Soft light streamed through the window and draped across our kitchen table as we worked the dough and prepared the filling. In no particular hurry, we diced Roman Beauty apples from a local orchard, adding spices and sugar until the wafting smells of cinnamon permeated our little apartment.
