Undeterred by the wintery weather, we headed into Sequoia National Park for a casual day hike at Paradise Creek Trail. We were greeted by snow covered trees, mountains, and rolling hills with very few hikers in sight. As the snow continued to fall in large flakes, the world around us turned white.

While we didn’t end up making any, we did find several miniature snowmen (and snow women) along the paved road trail:

As we hiked through the trail, I pulled out my camera and attached it to my handy Peak camera clip. For any photographers and hikers out there, I’d highly recommend it. For me and my husband, this was one of the best wedding gifts we received.

Along the way, the sun started coming out of the clouds and for a time, we hiked under blue skies framed by the beautiful trees above.

We headed back out around golden hour. The snow continued to fall lightly. The snow on the trees began to melt into tiny drops of water that sparkled in the sun as they fell.

This was a breathtaking hike with relatively minimal elevation gain and along a paved path. I’d highly recommend this hike, especially in winter where the scenery transforms into a winter wonderland that you can relatively have all to yourselves.

After our sunset hike out, we decided to head further into the park for an evening snowshoeing trip to General Sherman and the Congress of Sequoia trees by moonlight. Here we are, resting under the trees, staring up at the stars, and basking in the moonlight.
