Teas I’m in the Mood For

I drink tea for many different occasions. Oolong for a contemplative day. Sencha to lighten a heavy feeling day. Chai for comfort. Earl Grey to kickstart a day. Elderflower & Chamomile to soothe a headache or unwind for bed. Or lemon, ginger, and honey blends to soothe an aching throat.

Lately, I've been making Tazo Chai Tea Lattes in the morning since my favorite chai requires pre-cooking. We have a milk frother wand in the office, but for those who don't, try this. There's also individual wands like this for the minimalists out there.

Making a tea latte isn't very different from making a typical coffee latte. Steep your tea in hot water, but only about a third of a cup (or half depending on how you like it). Froth the milk and add to your cup of tea. The stronger the tea, the better. If you like it sweet, I recommend adding the sugar before the milk.

I've been drinking Lupicia Momo Oolong Super Grade in the afternoons. It's a light, but airy oolong with fresh hints of peaches. Since it's on the lighter side, I tend to get one steep per tea bag.

As work has been busy of late, I've enjoyed drinking Aveda Comforting Tea in the evenings. I would never have suspected Aveda would have good teas, let alone teas at all, but I've been drinking this since my mother introduced me to it a few months ago. It's non-caffeinated and gets its natural sweetness from the licorice roots. It's a soothing tea, similar to Yogi Sleepy Time or Bedtime Tea. I usually fall asleep quickly after so I tend to only drink these teas when I'm ready to sleep. Long story short, these teas are true to their names.

My husband and I dropped by Song Tea & Ceramics in San Francisco recently. I really enjoyed the scent of their Mr. + Mrs. Chen's Oolong and several others. They tended to be on the pricier side, but the store itself is beautifully bright and lined with tea and tea ceramics inside.

What teas do you enjoy drinking?
